One of the main purposes of the survey was to see just how much contact people in my age group have had with the beach. And what (if any) they have done to help take care of it. According to the survey most college students have gone to the beach three or more times and have taken at least some kind of outdoor interactive class either in high school or in college.
One of the most positive parts about the responses was that I found that most young people are FINALLY doing there part to take care of our beautiful beaches. I found that more than ever students are not only helping out by not littering but also are doing beach clean-ups and are even encouraging recycling in their areas. THIS IS AWESOME! Every little bit helps.
I also got a look into who students are going to the beach with and what they do most there. While most people think that all college students do is go to the beach and get hammered with their friends thats surprisingly wrong. More responses showed that students now a days actually go to the beach with their family more than their friends and their favorite activity was building sand castles.. there is hope for us yet.

ReplyDeleteI can really relate to this because I myself am a beach bum. I can definitely see what you mean when you say that college kids don't only go to the beach to get hammered. I go to the beach maybe 3 to 4 times a week with various groups of people and we find plenty of other things to do. Such as beach volleyball, juggling the soccer ball around, skimboarding, and just hanging out.
